This class is auditioning different themes that students have composed and deciding if they work together. This is a tricky process because it requires an open mind, strong ensemble playing skills and also challenges students to  articulate their opinions with musical language.

This video shows the next step of the project which involves adding "color" through various percussion instruments and including a student conductor. Students love the autonomy and control they have in this project. Every student had the opportunity to conduct the class tone poem if they wanted to.
