1st Grade

Our 1st graders love to dance! This particular dance is called "The Noble Duke of York". It's been very popular in our past few music classes. When students do this dance they sing while moving to the beat. They work to remember the sequence of each set of steps. They get to take turns leading the group as well. One of my favorite parts of learning dances like this one is that students may choose different partners each time. Asking another student to be your partner, in a clear and kind way, helps build a critical social skill that can transfer to many other areas.
