What's Happening in Music?

3rd Grade

Students in 3rd grade have been singing, dancing, playing and reviewing rhythmic patterns this past month. They have also begun to learn about notes on the treble clef in preparation for learning recorder this year! Recorders will be going home with all 3rd grade classes this week. Please help your student remember to bring their recorder and music binder to class each day! If you hear loud squeaking sounds when they are practicing, remind them of the two best tips for producing a beautiful tone.
  • Always use soft air.
  • Always cover the holes completely. Leaks make squeaks!
The sounds they make will become more musical quickly. In the meantime, encourage your child to play in a room with the door closed and hang in there! :)
