What's Happening in Music?

4th Grade

4th graders love to dance and we spend a lot of time dancing and moving to music throughout the year. Folk dancing helps teach basic concepts of rhythm, repetition, musical cues, pattern, predictability, and anticipation. It also allows students a valuable opportunity to develop social skills and become more comfortable moving to music with friends in a way that feels both "expected" and FUN! Folk dance is also very multicultural. When students learn dances from around the world, they gain insight into different historical and social times and traditions.
