5th graders have been discussing how music can set a mood or tone. Each class has set out to compose a "tone poem" that will tell a story through music, and without words. In these photos, partners worked together to create a repeating pattern, or ostinato, that could combine with our main musical idea. After they auditioned each idea, they chose a few to become permanent parts of our piece.
We will continue to add layers and sound effects and eventually, students will begin arranging and conducting their class composition.
